Greetings Readers,
From September 2015, through May 2018 I lived along this lovely stretch of the Merrimack River in Amesbury, Massachusetts. It was a gift, a blessing to live there, in a half house that had once been a shipwright’s home. I miss that place sometimes, but not the stairs up to my bedroom, which were inordinately steep and narrow, like staircases often were in old New England homes.
I walked a lot when I lived there. Either east or west as the road went, following the path of the river, and walking in fact, in the same area that Thoreau once traversed and wrote about in “A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers.” I will post more about Thoreau’s thoughts on the Merrimack River here in the future.
I also wrote a lot when I lived there. I completed my 70 page Prior Learning Portfolio for my B.A. at UMass Amherst’s University Without Walls, in Creative Writing and Digital Communications and I started my manuscript, Reflections on the River in that apartment. I will be serializing Reflections on the River here soon.
But, that is all another story, and I digress here when I have come today solely to share these photos from one of my walks along the river in mid-April 2017.
I love the birch and maples trees appear to be dancing among the pines while giving just a hint of color on their bare branches, the trees were just beginning to bud on this day.
I hope you all enjoy these photos!

Beautiful photos Pamela and that looks like an amazingly peaceful place for walks. That bench in the second last photo looks like the perfect place to enjoy a coffee any time of day. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely photos, Pamela, and it is great to read about how the place and the river have been and continue to be meaningful to you, the way they were integral to different parts of your life. Thank you.
