A View of the Field
A Photo Essay
I’ve spent a lot of time in the past few months looking out at this field searching for answers to questions that I am not sure either I or the field truly understand.
The field gives me much to contemplate. And, the field brings me solace with its verdant quietude.
Some days I just love to sit and stare out the window, looking to see what wildlife might wander through.
On this day that I took these photos, the field beckoned me to step beyond my windows overlooking the field and walk a little deeper into the field with my phone camera.
Thankfully the summer bugs were all gone. For months I kept trying to walk through the field only to be chased off by mosquitos, horseflies and greenheads.
On this particular day, the clouds in the sky were so enticing. They were like tufts of grey blue cotton reaching across the sky in ripples and waves.
The leaves on the trees were just beginning to change to their fall colors but the grass was so green and quite plush. In fact, it was the sky that day that drew me into the field.
I hope you all enjoyed this short photo essay. It’s been so difficult for me in recent months to sit and write or edit photos. The level of chronic pain including neuralgia that I have been dealing with in my lower back has been unprecedented for me.
A week ago I had a Lumbar MRI and this Friday, November 7th I will be seeing a new spine specialist to make a plan for treatment. I was making progress in physical therapy until I added in PT for my knee as well about a month ago. The knee PT aggravated the lumbar. Suffice to say things are not great with my lower back (in truth my entire back). It’s been a long road since my road trip to Eastport, Maine in August to visit my family.
My hope is the new spine specialist will help me find relief and get back to enjoying my life and sharing my work here. I appreciate you all so much for hanging in here with me!
P.S. I have many more photos of the field and my trip to Maine to share once I can sit for a length of time at the computer to edit them. I do hope you will all keep checking back!

Beautiful photos, Pamela. I can only imagine the wildlife and plantlife teeming in that field. Once the snow falls, you'll no doubt find all manner of wildlife tracks as well. It will be nice to see this field through all four seasons. Sending good thoughts on your appointment tomorrow and overall recovery.
Thank you all for your comments and support. The specialist I saw was for pain management and she referred to a surgeon. Meanwhile, more PT.
