Monica, I can relate to that. I am a bundle of nerves lately and welcome finding something to distract me from my woes, and focus my compassion on others.
Thanks for sharing, Pamela. That nihilistic nothingness masquerades well as the empty mind. I try to remind myself of this when that sense of nihilism appears. For me, being aware of the mind and the present moment tends to centre me best.
Neil, I remember sitting on the beach in Malibu watching the waves and the surfers about 20 years ago feeling some nihilistic angst. Suddenly I realized I had an empty mind and that brought me center and I found the nihilism had lifted in that shift of perspective. I was grateful and will always remember that.
Pamela, this post really resonates with me. I love so much of your writing here, but I'll choose one quote: "Despite everything that might happen in our lives, I believe that the light is always there waiting for us. Perhaps we must go out with lanterns to find ourselves and our our light." This is a great way to look at the world. And if we can't find the light, it is up to us to light our own way.
Thank you, Pamela. I really appreciate the message here, it's resonant and transcendent, especially at the end of a long winter. A great reminder to emerge into the light.
Heidi, I am glad this post resonated with you. It has been a very long winter. So much upheaval. Spring is coming... The light is coming too. Thank you!
"In “nihilistic nothingness,” we lose sight of everything including ourselves."
I have been loitering in this place for many days Pamela, I can't even begin to tell you how I appreciate this post - Thank you from my heart my lovely friend. 🙏🏼xx
Great stuff Pamela. You are awesome
Thank you Dean!
Thanks, Pamela. I drift at times. I needed this today. I hope you have a great day!
It's okay to be empty at times. For me it often coincides with quiet. Glad this resonated. Be well...
TY. 😊
Balance ❤️ sat chit ananda.
Yes!
This was really helpful. Much easier for me to be compassionate to others than myself.

Hi Beth, I am so glad this post resonated with you. I am thinking of you and hoping that the light is with you.
Thank you for this Pamela. The light is always there, we just have to be willing to see it.
Absolutely James, Absolutely. Thank you! I am still marveling at your new path. What a light you will shine.
Thank you so much Pamela. The light is there, the road to it just isn’t always straight and is often uphill—but the sweetest views are atop hills.
So true James, the sweetest views are atop the hills!

Take good care this weekend!
Thanks Heidi, you too! I am about to hit the couch for the night.
Excellent, you have the full support of the Critters.:)
That is a wonderful essay and is not at all empty. Quite the opposite. A pleasure to read.
Thank you Allan! I hope you are getting settled in.
