My first post here on Substack was April 20, 2023. It was a Hello Substack, I am Here, post, just to get a feel for the place. I spent the next three weeks or so posting every few days and then I began to question my desire to start yet another blog — at one point over the years, I had four different websites I was creating for — all my own — two for my natural bath & body products business, one personal and one liberal political and news. To say that was a lot is an understatement.
With over 25 years of creating content and writing online, I knew full well the commitment of time and energy that goes into writing and maintaining and I was currently enjoying not writing or producing content.
The allure of a bustling platform, Substack and Notes, and the people I was meeting here on Notes pulled me in and in late July 2023, I started to write here in ernest.
I’ve rarely taken much of a break in my work here until recently when I started feeling overwhelmed by various situations in my life, that were weighing heavily on my heart and mind, while also causing grief and sadness.
The less I posted, the quieter I became. Is that a good thing? Perhaps… But I also felt some disconnect here with my wonderful, supportive community who mean so much to me.
As I continue to work through finding new affordable senior housing and accepting the changes that are coming my way, I hope to get back on track here with my work and I hope you, my readers and friends, will stick with me as I go through this stressful life change.
I’ve added some new photos today as well for this revisited post - photos of the Merrimack River estuary area I love so much.
Below is my first post on Substack… Many of my readers here know me by now. Thank you all for indulging me while I find my way yet again… Life is all about finding our way over and over again.
Welcome to my Substack.
I’m a writer and photographer living on the estuary of Merrimack River in coastal Massachusetts. The river is my blood. I’m a creative nonfiction and fiction writer, a poetry dabbler, a photographer, naturalist, art, music and history lover, who loves to travel.
I’m breaking out of a long spell of writer’s block (again) and I hope you will join me here as I start back on my life’s path of writing. I’m be sharing parts of my two unpublished WIPs, photography, and other food for thought here in my journal.
Some of you might recall that I spent a lot of time in March moving data from an old PC to a newer PC. With that project completed, once I am settled into a new apartment and feeling more like myself, I am excited to dive into both of my WIP’s. One manuscript is ready to start publishing here after I run it through one more edit.
I’ll be looking for a couple of pairs of eyes who might be interested in being Beta Readers on the first manuscript I plan to publish here.

Stay tuned for new posts… I hope you might share this post and refer a friend.

Your community is here always for you Pamela, whether you write or not. You have had so much to deal with and it's totally understandable the creative brain has been a little quiet. We need that sometimes. It also makes it even more powerful when we take up the pen, the camera, the tapping of the keys again and see how Creating and Connecting can save us. Sending you love from New Zealand. May your new home be manifesting itself right now. 🏡🐦⬛🐣🌻 xxx
Quiet can mean anything you would like it to me. For you, it might mean, slowing down and breathing. For others, it might mean exploring inner and outer space without responding to little pinpricks of stimulation. For me, quiet might mean a space for my mind, emotions, and writings to wander as freely as a river with drops of beauty, liquefying, and merging together.
