Really enjoyed revisiting the lyrics of Bird on the Wire by Leonard Cohen. I especially liked the Willie Nelson version as well. That image of the House Finch is beautiful - love the way the reddish colours contrast with the greenery in the background. Thanks for sharing, Pamela.
Thank you Neil. I am glad you enjoyed. I love Willie Nelson. I find his voice so soothing. I've been listening to him since the 70's. I too love the way the House Finch contrasts with the greenery in the background. I decided it was a good image for the post, as the fence it wire!
Ahh Pamela, I loved this so so much... like you, I am long time Cohen fan, that live version of Bird on the Wire I must have listened to thousands of times over the years... Thank you for the reminder, I feel a Cohen Sunday ahead... especially as here too, after a week of glorious sunny and warm spring weather, just in time for my holidays, rain is coming and staying for the duration... honestly, I feel cheated! Sending hugs lovely, I do hope your feeling more like your usual self very soon... 💐xx
Susie, I am so glad you enjoyed. I am most fond of the Tedeschi Trucks version. I love Susan Tedeschi's voice. When I saw them perform this live, I felt so blessed. I'm sorry rain is coming for your holidays. It seems to be moving out of my area, perhaps crossing the pod heading your way if that is the way the weather pattern is traveling. Thank you for the hugs. They always help. I will be very happy to get through the other side of all of this! xoxo
Wonderful post, Pamela. I really like how you've been inspired to meld the amazing bird photos with versions of the song. A fantastic playlist, bird song included.
Thank you, Pamela. I remember the first image of the bird on a wire from last year when I was first getting to know your work. I loved it then and now.:)
When I was working on this post (again) I thought I would like to create a bird on a wire series. I added it to my expanding series list for my photography.
Pamela, I loved this post. What a poetic song. The lyrics are so beautiful. And your photos of a couple of birds on their prospective wires are stunning.

I also have always loved that song. I hear it as a song of redemption.
“If I, if I have been unkind
I hope that you can just let it go by”
Check out the version by Joe Bonamassa.
Colleen, I agree, it is a song of redemption. I did not know Joe Bonamassa covered it too. I will look for it. Thank you. I am glad you enjoyed!
Hallelujah is my Cohen favourite sung by K.d. lang…..beautiful
Catherine, I feel like the last person to know KD Land covered it as well! I am going to look for it!
Pamela….I have a bit of a heads-up, being Canadian 😉

Jo, tomorrow looks like a sunny day and I am so looking forward to it. Today, I'm at the desk doing my taxes.

It's an innovative way to expand previous work!
Yes it is and now I am seeing birds on wires everywhere I go!
I do love Cohen’s but absolutely adore kd Lang’s version even more. Sensational lyrics … he was a master
at his craft.
Maree Therese, I did not know that KD Land also covered Bird on a Wire. I will look for it. I am so glad you enjoyed!
How did I not know KD Land covered this song as well!
