I awoke this morning to snow on the ground and it is still falling.
I thought of this post from a year ago today and decided to re-share as it goes back to a time when Words and Pictures had just under 450 subscribers. That said, many of you never had a chance to read it. So I’ve brought it out from behind the Archives and the paywall today and I’ve added a couple of new winter photos.
If it is snowing today where you are, I hope you enjoy!
A pair of winter poems from my poetry journals. I hope you all enjoy!
The Silent Sound of Snow Falling
The silent sound
of snow falling
reverential as it is,
touching all
like a blessing
that is new,
fresh and pure.
Yet, old snow
never falls
so delicately.
Once it tumbles
and has landed
in its place,
snow changes form
like a shape-shifter,
morphing
with the winter wind.
In the Peace of a Winter's Night
In the peace of
a winter's night
I saw my reflection
in the snow.
I was older
and so much wiser,
yet, there was
so much
I did not know.

Winter Arrives
It seems that this afternoon brought in the first snow. The plows are out, there’s an inch or two in the back yard already. Traffic is slowing down as people head home to get off the roads tonight.
Nice poems and it reminds me of how quiet things are when the snow falls. Its been cold here at around 25 degrees
Beautiful poetry and photography, Pamela. I love that shot of Curzon Mill.
