You got to know if you have been reading my Substack for a bit, I am captivated by hawks!
Today’s Poem of the Day is from my poetry journals and it was originally posted here in early December 2023, when I had about 300 subscribers. That said, the majority of you have never read this piece, as it has been behind the paywall for some time.
I’ve added new photos to this piece as well incase you’ve seen it before. Thanks for indulging me… I hope you all enjoy!
A Hawk Flew Into My Nest Today
A hawk flew
into
my nest today,
and fed me
seeds
of enlightenment.
I wondered
why
the hawks
had moved
so close
to my nest;
that every day
I could hear
their calls.
Now,
I know.

A Chance Encounter with a Red-tailed Hawk
I am re-posting this post from late January today, as I had another encounter with this same Red-tailed Hawk a couple of days ago and I posted a short video and some pics on Notes. Given the interest…
Today’s Curated Photos are from an early collection from 2013, when I was first getting interested in bird photography. At the time I was shooting with a Fuji Wide Angle Zoom Camera. It served me well until I moved up to the SLR world in 2015. This series of photos is one of my favorite early series. The immature red-tailed hawk was a regular at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge and he loved to sit and pose.
Gorgeous photos and poem! Thank you for sharing!
Hey - Pamela, it was Superbowl, right, the first American Eagle 🦅 and then Donald JR went to the field to play with a marvelous eagle and now Substack has a news office somewhere=9
